Marketing and typography frequently go hand in hand… at least when some level of graphical design is involved. Typography has found its natural setting in graphical design (where people like David Carson made it into art). With the evolution of typography, media and narrowing attention span of consumers, it is getting a more prominent role in video ads as well. However, rarely do we see typography used not as a tool but as the marketing vehicle itself (pun intended).

Until now…

As a part of the marketing campaign for the new Toyota iQ, the have contracted two Belgian graphic designers Pierre & Damien of PleaseLetMeDesign and the American artist/programmer Zachary Lieberman to create a new font using Toyota iQ.

Watch how this font has been made and if you like it you can download it now. Yes, it’s free. :-)

In other words, this is really good news for any Java developer and company with Java technological focus.

Richard Shaples from RedHat (full title: Director of Product Management at JBoss EAP) writes more about the history and what it means also plugging Linux distribution Fedora 9 as the first one to bundle completely free and open Java.

Freeconomics = the future of economy

Your attention = price you pay

I’m convinced this is how the most business will operate.

If you’re wondering why, or you think I’m mad or something, then I must ask you for just a little bit of your attention.

There’s an excellent article you must read. It’s written by the editor-in-chief of Wired Magazine (and the inventor of The Long Tail coin phrase) about the future of economy. With the storage and processing cost declining exponentially, the only best thing to do is to round the cost down to zero.
